logo FIRE COMMISSIONERS

Fire District 40 Commissioners are elected officials who represent the concerns and interest of you, the citizens of the community. We oversee finances, equipment, capital improvements, and general fire department operations. We meet at 4:30 PM on the second and last Thursday of each month at our Headquarters Station located at 18002 180th Ave SE.

We are always interested in what you have to say, so please feel free to attend the meetings to learn more about what is going on in your fire department. There is an opportunity at the end of the meeting to ask questions or share your ideas and concerns. If you are unable to attend, feel free to e-mail or write to us.

SwearNEW FIRE COMMISSIONER

Mike Warfel was appointed to serve as a King County Fire District 40 commissioner on April 10, 2008.

He took office immediately and will serve as a fire commissioner (position #3) until the November 2009 general election, at which time the he may run for the subsequent six-year term.

Mike brings with him many years of experience with King County Fire District 40. In 2003 he began volunteering on the Citizen Advisory Team. In 2004 he obtained CERT (Citizen Emergency Response Team) certification and became involved in the Regional Communication and Emergency Coordination Center. He joined the district's amateur radio support group and was named District 40's Chief Civil Service Examiner in 2005.

Mike earned a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Illinois and his Masters Degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Missouri. His engineering skills, along with his commitment to our community, allowed him the opportunity to contribute to the design development and architectural evaluation of the fire district's new headquarters station on 108th Street.

We are very proud to name Mike Warfel as our newest Fire Commissioner....

Welcome aboard, Mike!
