Fire District 40 Commissioners are elected officials who represent the concerns and interest of you, the citizens of the community. We oversee finances, equipment, capital improvements, and general fire department operations. We meet at 4:30 PM on the second and last Thursday of each month at our Headquarters Station located at 18002 180th Ave SE.

We are always interested in what you have to say, so please feel free to attend the meetings to learn more about what is going on in your fire department. There is an opportunity at the end of the meeting to ask questions or share your ideas and concerns. If you are unable to attend, feel free to e-mail or write to us.

Are you interested in serving your community as a fire district commissioner?

Effective March 1, 2008, King County Fire District 40 has a vacancy on the Board.

RCW 42.12.070 states that when a board position is vacant, the remaining members of the governing body shall appoint a qualified person to fill the vacant position. A "qualified" applicant is one who resides in and is a registered voter of (unincorporated) Fire District 40. Therefore, King County Fire District 40 is accepting resumes from qualified applicants wishing to be appointed to the vacant position.

The person appointed shall take office immediately and serve until the November 2009 general election, at which time the appointee has the option to run for the elected office (Fire Commissioners are elected for a six-year term).

The duties of a Fire Commissioner are to manage and conduct the business affairs of the Fire District through regular open public meetings. If you are interested, please send a letter of intent and resume to Chairman Craig Violante, King County Fire District 40, 18002 108th Ave SE, Renton, WA 98055 no later than April 1, 2008.
