King County Fire District 40

2024-Banner3

In light of these times, when individuals taxes are increasing, the Board of Commissioners sought to minimize tax burdens on our residents. A good example of a tax increase is that a vast majority of our District has been impacted with a huge increase on car tabs due to Sound Transit 3 (ST3). The Board has been able to continue providing a level of service that is still higher than the majority of areas in King County by being diligent with our budget.

The Board looked at ways to cut costs and came up with a plan. Here are some cost cutting measures we implemented beginning with our 2017 budget:

  • District Consultant contract was not renewed
  • Contracted with a more reasonably priced attorney
  • Cut education budget for the Commissioners
  • Paid off a bond with the proceeds from the sale of our “old” station (near Fred Meyer)

Our budgeting process for the next year begins in September every year followed by our Benefit Charge Hearing in October. Please watch our website for our monthly agenda topics as well as the Benefit Charge Hearing date. We encourage your attendance at any and all of our meetings.
